CHARTER BOAT FISHING
Some of the most spectacular sport fishing in the world is offered along the Mozambique coastline. This unspoilt stretch of Indian Ocean is largely unexplored, which makes for an ideal fishing holiday.
The fishing in and around Flamingo and Barra Resorts is world class, with excellent opportunity to catch Sailfish and other pelagic species. This makes the area a favorite destination for fishing competitions. Our resident skippers are very well trained, knowledgeable and experienced. The ski boats boast the latest equipment and tackle, leaving little chance for not catching 'the big one'.
At all times, tag and release fishing is encouraged, following conservation policies.
These traditional sailing boats are still built according to designs dating back a thousand years or more, and they continue to ply the coast as trade and fishing vessels with their white sails. Almost every Mozambique sunset or view of the horizon features the familiar triangular sail and handcrafted vessel.
As a visitor to Mozambique, this is one mode of transport you simply have to take – even if it’s for a brief sunset cruise or a sail across the bay.
A magnificent saltwater mangrove with crystal clear waters surrounds Flamingo Bay Water Lodge and can be explored by boat or on foot. This unique ecosystem consists of a fascinating chain of saline-adapted plants and an array of interesting crustaceans. Flocks of flamingos, local fish traps and beautiful sunsets over the estuary provide photographers with dream material. It’s worth taking the catamaran for a trip around the Inhambane Lagoon to explore further.

Other attractions in the city include several cultural experiences, such as the central market where you will find fresh produce, fish, spices and cashew nuts.
A number of restaurants in and around Inhambane offer a great selection of local cuisine including the famous Mozambique peri - peri prawns.
