The best beach holiday in the books at Flamingo Bay

Flamingo Bay Water Lodge is right on the beach at Inhambane where the tides go in and out, creating a lagoon paradise where crabs and flamingos go about their daily business. A Mozambique Beach Holiday at Flamingo Bay is all about the snorkelling off the steps of your villa, from early morning until after sunset. The waters are so warm, the experience is sublime.

Everything at Flamingo Bay is top-notch and holidays spent here are never boring. Diving at this Mozambique Holiday venue will reveal giant manta rays and whale sharks lurking on this aptly named Manta Coast. Guests get to use the PADI dive centre at neighbouring Barra Lodge.

What about boat trips, romantic dhow cruises, fishing, watching dolphins on an ocean safari, horse riding and taking tours of local villages? There is so much to do at Flamingo Bay Water Lodge! This eco-paradise is also home to interesting mangrove waterways and the very rare Dugong.

For something less active, simply walk up from the chalet along wooden boardwalks to the restaurant, bar and lounge – sample appetizing fresh prawns, crabs and calamari around the pool or sip a cocktail at the pool bar. You can also visit the Wellness Centre nestling in the rich mangrove vegetation where a mini-gym and day spa offer fantastic indulgent massages and beauty treatments.

Travel to Inhambane is easy – land at the airport and get a transfer to the lodge, 30 km away. The resort is usually not crowded and guests do their own thing – taking older children on holiday to Flamingo Bay is a good call as they will be fully occupied with the many outdoor activities available. Most of these activities are conducted via Bara Lodge – the sister property to Flamingo and a short transfer down the road. Regular trips run between the lodges to allow for facilitation of these activities.

Did you know that the enchanting seahorse can be found in the secluded lagoon? Another great activity is to take a boat to Pansy Island out in the ocean and look for pansy shells. Then swim with the dolphins and whale sharks.

The food at Flamingo Bay Water Lodge is really delicious and the menu cleverly managed – eat seafood and other Mozambique delights.  The restaurant has rave reviews from most holidaymakers -wherever possible all food is sourced locally.
