Flamingo Bay Water Lodge
Situated in the tropical tidal bay of Inhambane, just 485 kilometres north of Maputo, is a lodge different to any other in Mozambique. At Flamingo Bay Water Lodge you stay in chalets built on stilts elevated above the peaceful water. The lodge derives its name from the flocks of flamingos that inhabit the area from time to time.
There are 20 luxury water chalets at Flamingo Bay Lodge, each with full sea views sliding doors leading onto a balcony with comfy sun loungers. The rooms are furnished with hand crafted hardwood furniture and each includes an en-suite bathroom.
The chalets are conveniently separated by extended wooden walkways, ensuring the utmost privacy. Guests are transported to the main building on land via golf buggies or, if preferred, they are welcome to take a leisurely stroll. At the main building guests have the opportunity to indulge in an outstanding dining experience, socialise at the bar or simply wind down in the cosy lounge area.
Time spent at Flamingo Bay Water Lodge in Inhambane, Mozambique is always time well spent. If overindulging on relaxation seems to become a little mundane and you feel the need to explore the more adventurous side of things; the endless list of exciting activities will surely catch your attention. There are various exhilarating things to take part in at Flamingo Bay and surrounds; spend time in the PADI dive centre and ask them to take you to several special diving locations. You are almost certain to spot a whale shark or a manta ray. Other activities include swimming, diving, snorkelling, boat trips, dhow cruises, fishing and horse riding as well as dolphin encounters, cultural tours, and Panzi Island dhow trips.
PLEASE NOTE: The lodge is not on the open sea but on a beautiful tidal estuary and experiences the same tidal changes as one would experience at any coastal resort. This creates an interesting environment with the fish following the tide as it moves in and out as well as the birds and crabs and other estuarine creatures appearing and moving with these daily changes.
